Join celebrated Canadian cartoonist Kate Beaton for a conversation about her award-winning graphic novel Ducks.
Award-winning cartoonist Kate Beaton joins editor Irene Velentzas for a conversation about such past works as Hark! A Vagrant and Step Aside, Pops as well as her most recent graphic novel Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands (2022). The book captures Beaton’s stint working in the Alberta oil fields as a young woman, where she experienced loneliness and harassment and witnessed first-hand the brutal toll the industry exacts on the land. (approx. 60 mins.)
After the conversation, gather with fellow CXC fans at a free reception from 5 to 7 PM at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, which is just south of the Wexner Center across the plaza.
