To tell a story completely grounded in reality is often assumed to be the most truthful approach to storytelling, but what can be factually true can often feel emotionally empty if not dishonest. Through the use of surrealism, magical realism, and metaphor, Sam Szabo (Enlightened Transexual Comix) and L. Pidge (Infinite Wheatpaste) are able to speak to a deeper truth about the way they see the world and express that truth through their work. Caroline Cash (Pee-Pee Poo-poo #1) will be hosting this discussion on magical realism in comics.
